Role Overview
We are looking for looking for a highly skilled Senior COBOL Developer, to join our dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in COBOL programming, a passion for developing and maintaining high-quality software solutions, and some experience working on IBM Z.
Main Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain COBOL-based applications: Collaborate with business analysts and other developers to understand requirements and translate them into efficient and scalable COBOL programs.
Work with other IT teams to integrate COBOL applications with other systems and platforms within the company.
Identify, diagnose, and fix production issues in a timely manner to ensure seamless operation of our insurance systems.
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all developed applications, ensuring clarity and ease of understanding for future reference.
Stay curent with the latest COBOL developments and industry trends to suggest and implement improvements in our software development processes.
Perform code reviews and participate in testing processes to ensure the highest quality of software deliverables.
Candidate Job Profile
BSc in Computer Science / Information Technology or related field.
Minimum 3 years of experience in COBOL development, preferably within the insurance industry and preferably on IBM Z.
Proficiency in COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and other mainframe technologies.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
Excellent communication skills both in Greek and English, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
No pending military obligations (for Greek male citizens).
Will be considered a plus
Prior work experience in the insurance sector, with an understanding of insurance processes and workflows.
